The best way to lose weight PERIOD is to eat lots of veggies (cooked and raw in salads), a good amount of lean protein (chicken and turkey breast, egg whites, tempeh) and to cut out all refined sugar and white floury products (bread, muffins, cookies, you know the stuff).  Drinking lots of water and green tea will help too.  The body is sneaky, you may feel peckish thinking you are hungry, when in fact you are just dehydrated. If you crave something sweet eat fruit (berries, melon, citrus)… or a bit of delicious dark chocolate!  If you want something starchy eat sweet potatoes or a slice of whole grain bread.

Don’t forget to move those legs. I’m getting the vibe that you aren’t too stoked on the gym idea.  You don’t have to do everything at once.  Start by eating healthier and try to get a touch of exercise every day, even if it means a brisk walk to get some morning coffee!  Don’t worry about getting a gym membership tomorrow.  The goal is to feel good, not overwhelmed.
