Braised Chicken with dried plums, onion and ginger
OK! So prunes are now dried plums, for all the people out there that consider prunes senior only fare. I love prunes (and all dried fruit), so I don’t feel the need to call them dried plums. But just in case you think you don’t like prunes, give this recipe a try. The prunes give the dish a sweetness that balances the spices. So try it, you’ll like it! Braised Chicken with...
Another great product!
Don’t you hate it when a recipe calls for just a cup or two of chicken broth, and you have to open a whole container of it-all four cups worth, and leave the rest sitting in the fridge? Then you don’t find a good use for it and end up throwing it away. So wasteful! So I LOVE this chicken broth from Pacific Natural Foods. Free-range, organic broth in handy one cup portions. Use...
Vegan baked goods-turn on or turn off???
Well, since you read my blog, my guess is that you, like me, find vegan muffins, cupcakes and pastries a BIG turn on! Allergies and intolerance to dairy, eggs, etc make vegan goodies a must for lots of us. Others just want to eat healthier. But, for lots of folks, anything vegan means not delicious and is a turn off. EVEN after a vegan cupcake won the cupcake wars??? Uh huh. So lots of vegan...

Coconut and Sweet Potato Pie
I love sweet potato pie but don’t like the fuss and calories of a traditional crust. So I’ve come up with this crustless version, which also included another favorite ingredient…coconut. The graham crackers and coconut on the bottom of the pie give a texture and flavor contrast that makes you forget about the crust! This pie is healthy, easy to prepare, and yummy…but it’s not the prettiest pie. ...

Greek yogurt lovers, rejoice!
PRODUCT ALERT! Greek yogurt. I love it, and judging by recipe requests, I know that you love it too! Greek yogurt is so yummy that regular, old, runny yogurt seems sad by comparison. And it’s high in protein and has good for your tummy probiotics. I just found this fantastic FROZEN greek yogurt by Oiokos, made by Stoneyfield. Here is what the carton looks like: I’ve only tried...
Marketing garbage to kids
Wow, reese’s puff cereal is “healthy”? And kool-aid? Really? Why do these companies get away with misrepresenting their food…it’s one thing to make a conscious decision to eat a little junk, another to be deceptive… http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-f-jacobson/healthy-kids-foods-not-healthy_b_987155.html#s378767&title=Reeses_Puffs
Chunky root veggie & chicken soup
October is a great soup month, and since I love hearty, filling root vegetables this is one of my favorites. If you haven’t tried root veggies this is a great way to experiment. I love parsnips, they look like a white carrot and are nice and sweet. I also like rutabaga’s, they have a white and purple skin, are shaped like a turnip but have a more mellow flavor. If you’re a...
Have you guys tried this AMAZING gluten free brownie mix? You MUST. I simply used oil instead of butter, added some dark chocolate, walnuts and coconut, I swear you wouldn’t know they were dairy free and gluten free. FREAKING yum!
