Love almond milk?
I do! I love it with cereal or in a smoothie.
Now “So Delicious” has an almond milk that is higher in protein, 5 grams per serving. That’s because they add pea and rice protein.
They have an unsweetened variety with just 40 calories in 8 ounces. I’m going to keep an eye out for this product!

Guide to who shouldn't eat gluten
If you suspect that you don’t react well to gluten, please read this article!
If you are going to be tested for celiac disease do it before going gluten free on your own or you might not react to the blood test.
But if you’re like a growing number of us are, intolerant to gluten instead of having celiac disease, try eliminating gluten and see how you feel. Then slowly add foods back...

Dairy-free Spelt Cornbread, so good!!!
I LOVE cornbread, but since I have a problem with wheat and dairy I usually abstain.
But when I heard that turkey chili was being served at my neighbor’s Superbowl party, I knew I just had to have some cornbread with it.
So I took a very traditional recipe, swapped spelt flour for regular flour, soy milk for regular milk, and coconut sugar for regular sugar (because it’s supposed...
Throw these cooking oils away!!!
These oils contained GMOs, meaning products that are genetically modified, even if the label says 100% NATURAL!!!
So don’t be fooled! Use olive oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil or safflower oil for cooking and baking.

If you care about the poisoning of our food supply and water sources, genetically engineered frankenfoods becoming more prevalent, the fact that CORN is in everything, all the junk food that is aggressively marketed to kids who are becoming more sickly and obese, not to mention the inhumane treatment of livestock, please watch this video and pass it on!

Don't expect the federal gov't to protect...
California had the good sense to pass a law in 2009 which required that “downer” or “nonambulatory” livestock, animals too sick to walk on their own, be euthanized rather than put in your local grocery store’s meat department.
Our great state was moved to make this sensible decision after the Humane Society turned over a video. The video showed that sick animals...

I’m heading to a movie tomorrow and there’s a Cheesecake Factory right next door. Some of my movie companions love cheesecake-so a visit is in the stars!
In the past I’ve been at a loss for what to order from the menu, and desserts were out of the question with my dairy/wheat issues. But I think my options have just expanded since they debuted their SkinnyLicious menu with, you...
Korean food, a cuisine that I need to try!
Sometimes avoiding dairy and gluten makes ordering at restaurants a trial and a challenge. That’s one of the reasons why I LOVE Asian cuisine. There’s nothing like opening a menu and feeling free! I have lots to choose from, and I can actually order something without asking the waiter 20 questions.
And the biggest plus…so many healthy options!
I love Vietnamese and Japanese food, but curious...
Cursed locations!
Do you have one in your neighborhood??? The locations where restaurants come and go and come and go?
I have one in my old neighborhood. In two years it’s gone from being upscale Mexico City style Mexican food to Mexican seafood to The Cotton Patch (what a name) to The Boll Weevil ( same company, can they pick unappetizing names or what) to an Italian restaurant that is 3/4 empty. Yesh.

Dark chocolate & peanut butter vegan pudding
I was playing in the kitchen and deciding to take some of my favorite flavors and just whirl them together to make a vegan pudding. Let’s see, dark chocolate, cinnamon, peanut butter, coconut. Hmmm…
And it came out great!
Prep time is about 5 minutes, and there are only 5 ingredients. And it’s vegan, full of protein, has antioxidant rich dark chocolate and dark cocoa, and is...
Beware of frozen chocolate bars
I just went to the dentist for a routine visit and was WARNED about frozen chocolate bars. Lots of patients are calling up with with broken teeth!
There were less trick or treaters this year, so the leftover candy was popped in the freezer. But when the bars freeze they are super, super hard, especially anything with nougat (think Snickers, Milky Ways, 3 Musketeers).
So a word of warning, if...

Irritable tummy?
Lots of folks suffer from digestive issues, and have been diagnosed with IBS-irritable bowel syndrome. Gas, rumbly stomach, spending too much time in the bathroom. This can really become a pain.
While it’s been theorized that this is stress related, it can also be caused by food intolerances.
Another theory is that the main cause of IBS are foods that are gassy/bloating. These foods are...

Get ready for turkey, veggie and farro soup!
Ah, the soup you can make with your leftover turkey.
So many options!
If you don’t have the energy to deal with soup making after cooking the meal you can put the bones, along with some turkey still intact, in a ziplock and freeze until you’re ready.
If you didn’t cook, and are feeling the love from the cook ask him/her for the bones to take home.
The leftovers make a rich,...

Braised Chicken with dried plums, onion and ginger
OK! So prunes are now dried plums, for all the people out there that consider prunes senior only fare.
I love prunes (and all dried fruit), so I don’t feel the need to call them dried plums. But just in case you think you don’t like prunes, give this recipe a try. The prunes give the dish a sweetness that balances the spices. So try it, you’ll like it!
Braised Chicken with...
Another great product!
Don’t you hate it when a recipe calls for just a cup or two of chicken broth, and you have to open a whole container of it-all four cups worth, and leave the rest sitting in the fridge? Then you don’t find a good use for it and end up throwing it away. So wasteful!
So I LOVE this chicken broth from Pacific Natural Foods. Free-range, organic broth in handy one cup portions. Use...
Vegan baked goods-turn on or turn off???
Well, since you read my blog, my guess is that you, like me, find vegan muffins, cupcakes and pastries a BIG turn on!
Allergies and intolerance to dairy, eggs, etc make vegan goodies a must for lots of us. Others just want to eat healthier. But, for lots of folks, anything vegan means not delicious and is a turn off.
EVEN after a vegan cupcake won the cupcake wars??? Uh huh.
So lots of vegan...
